Story of ERHC
The history of ERHC goes back to that of EML founded in 2010. Eml was sought after by an important certification body, Rina CO. company controlled by the Italian government, with more than 4,000 employees and offices in over 120 countries which, after receiving numerous requests from its customers for halal certificates, carried out a search in Europe which ended with the signing of a memorandum of collaboration between EML and Rina. Rina has gained experience over many years in the field of certifications but had to be accompanied by a Muslim organization that controlled the audits and affirmed the authenticity of the declarations.
We remind you that the EML does not issue the halal certificate but carries out a final check to authorize the issue of the same. Only Muslim auditors have the right to make the final decision which, however, is submitted to a technical committee made up of Muslims. From this collaboration, EML understands the existing gaps in the certification system constituted by the lack of exchange of information between the certifying bodies, and the inexistence of real traceability links of the certified products. Hence the need to create a European and international register that is able to collect news and information necessary to serve the European and non-European Muslim community.
